Glacier

This is a glacier seen from the camp on the Lares trail. It was beautiful in first light. Cropped.

Typo Apologies

Apologies for the typo - meant to say shot. Has been amended.

Water fall

This was taken with the last light of the evening, the camera was balanced on a rock as a substitute for a tripod. The water fall was so poorly lit that it was pointless to try and take it on a fast shutter speed, so instead i tried to capture the fast movement without a tripod and with a slow shutter speed. It was taken using full manual, which have been using more and more recently. It was shot somewhere between Cusco and the Sacred valley. The stars came out half an hour later and that night it was down to minis eight!!

Mountain communities

This is a image of an Andean woman, sitting with her back to the mountains, it has not yet been photoshopped.

Lares Trek photos

Right, here are the first images of the amazing Lares trail, it was breathtaking. Some amazing views of snow capped peaks. I have taken a total of 20gb of images during the trek, and me and my camera have traveled many, many miles and have been to my highest altitude so far, roughly four times the height of the highest peak in the UK (Ben Nevis). At night it went down to minus eight yet during the day it reached the upper teens. Glad to be able to sleep properly again!
Many more photos coming!

Inca kings

This is a gold or gold leaf Inca statue of an Inca king, which is also a fountain in the main square of Cusco

Anyone for Guinea pig?

In a restaurant we found Guinea pig stakes available, it was next to Alpacker breast on the menu.

Peruvian google

This is a strange image of Peruvian google.
Guggle!!

Cusco

This is some precarious scaffolding in a narrow cobbled street in Peru.

The stunning Cathedral

The square and the cathedral that looks onto it are very busy but here are a few images.
As you can probably see these are unedited images, all with a 18-55mm lens.

Cusco

This a street in the Inca capital of Cusco, the sky is very dramatic (edited I'm afraid), but it is a shame some of the detail had been lost in the bottom half of the frame. This was taken in a street just of the amazing main square, in the image you can see some Inca remains. The silhouetted hill is one of the many mountains that surround the town which in itself is taller that any of the UK mountains. It is generally the stop for travellers on their way to the inca remains of Machi Pichu (apologies for spelling but there are so many ways people spell it).
More images of the the days in Cusco will follow very shortly.

A piece of macro

This has been subject to virtually no editing, and has turned out to be quite a successful image in the end.

Block Misti

The Misti active volcano looked especially dramatic with a haze hovering around the foot of it. The prehistoric terraces below held some fascinating soil patterns, that with a bit of cropping can make a interesting image like this one.

Back lit tree

This was originally a boring colour still of a tree that had an interesting fall of light from the very intense sun, it has been heavily cropped to focus on the tree especially. A dramatic black and white effect has been added so the tree now looks as if it is glowing. It was taken below Misti volcano in a gorge,

Aerial Andes

This snap of a photo was taken from a plane a while ago, it is a snow capped Andean mountain. Apologies for the poor quality, but it is only a phone snap!

Lima bus

This is an edited version of the previous post. It has been cropped, saturated and then colour popped with a slight pencil effect applied to the tree.

Lima

Lima, although a fascinating city was hard to take photos in because if the poor visibility provided by the near constant fog. The fog is there as a result of the the lovely warm temperatures and the cold pacific ocean.
The image displayed here is a interesting handheld shot of a bus, this was not composed particularly yet it does show how good handheld can be. The bus is remarkably colourful, and the white of the top helps it to stand out from the blue buildings and greenery that form the slightly blurred background. An edited version will follow shortly.

Snapseed effects

This has been edited with a combination of Snapseed and iPhoto adding drama and a tiny bit of vintage effect.

Enjoying Peru

Peru is clearly a marvellous place, one of the most amazing mountain ranges I have seen in my life is here. The hotels are nice and there are some fascinating places- its also great for interesting photography of the landscape and buildings.

The first editors picture

This is the first edited picture of Arequipa which shows the bustle and the vibrancy of the many tiny little cabs that frequent the street.
The effect was done on snapseed using the vintage filter.

Arequipa monastery

This was a photographers paradise with colourful, pastel walls and amazing geometric shapes, again these are completely unedited apart from some cropping on one or two images.

Arequipa square and streets

The second stop of the Peruvian excursion is Arequipa. The visit to the monastery will be in a separate post but here a few interesting UNEDITED images of the city itself.

Amsterdam

This photo was taken in Amsterdam international airport, and was subject to heavy photoshopping to create a tilt shift and vintage effect. Possibly controversial. 😳
